Yaya Toure Officially Retires at 35

ATHENS - The former Olympiacos player hung up his boots for good at 35 years old. Even though he came from Manchester City to come back to his former Greek team, Yaya Toure had to leave the club with a memory that he does not want to remember and retire from the pitch that made him as famous as he is now.

Known as a playmaker midfielder and once a defender, Yaya Toure had achieved numerous accolades from both his personal team and international team. The former Ivorian player managed to win Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, and as the African Player of the Year for 4 consecutive years (2011-2014).

With 456 appearances and 77 goals from 7 different teams and 101 appearances and 19 goals in international level, the former Barcelona and Manchester City’s star player had to end his career bitterly after he did not get the chance to play at his new team in Superleague Greece, Olympiacos F. C.

Remembering that Yaya Toure also contributed in Olympiacos’ campaign to win the Greek League in 2006, Olympiacos decided to signed back Yaya Toure. However, the player did not get a chance to prove his worth, and he spent his time at his former club with null appearance and goal.

Dimitry Seluk, Toure’s agent, stated through his Twitter on Friday (10/5) that Yaya Toure decided to put his career to an end. Moreover, according to Seluk, the “real end” to the player’s career was when he decided to leave The Citizens for The Thrylos. The main cause was the contract was terminated between Toure and Olympiacos on mutual agreement, and he was out from the team in December 2018.

Fortunately, this will not be the end for Yaya Toure’s journey in soccer world. If he does not want to kick the ball any more, then he has decided to help other teams to play the beautiful game as it should be played. Having bidden soccer adieu, Yaya Toure decided to enter the coaching world.

This phase is not new for soccer players. Many notable players, for example, Gennaro Gattuso, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Frank Lampard, even Pep Guardiola, and many more are now coaching soccer giants.

For you, which team should the former star coach first?
