XL, Telkomsel on the internet disruption today

On Tuesday morning, Telkomsel reported a network disruption which leads to internet service down. The network operator explained that the disruption was caused by the power outage by the PLN to anticipate the flood as the rain intensified since Monday night.

General Manager External Corporate Communications Telkomsel, Aldin Hasyim, confirmed the news through an official statement. Some spots in Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) were affected by the rainfall. Anticipating any lurking dangers, PLN is cutting power.

Therefore, Aldin said that Telkomsel is using the backup power supplies from batteries and generators to support base transceiver stations (BTSs) in the affected spots to restore internet connection back to normal. Telkomsel is also monitoring to ensure the communication is maintained.

The same disruption also occurred to XL Axiata.

The Group Head Corporate Communications XL Axiata, Tri Wahyuningsih, had the same reactions as Telkomsel, power outage by PLN after water rendered some houses and its BTSs inundated.

The same as Telkomsel, Tri said that XL is struggling to keep the BTSs running by turning on generators.

Meanwhile, the other operator such as Indosat Ooredoo has not given any response. However, it is evident that many network operators are receiving complaints due to the network disruption amid the flood.
