Xiaomi cancels Poco M3 sales in Indonesia

Xiaomi Indonesia made a sudden turn and abruptly canceled the sales of Poco M3 on the e-commerce platform, Lazada. The Indonesian branch of the Chinese-flagged smartphone claimed that the transaction value reached billions of Indonesian Rupiah.

Speaking on Thursday, the PR Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, Andi Renreng, stated that the decision came as Xiaomi Indonesia is struggling to protect its customers from people who hoarded the product during the flash sale and resold it above the official price, therefore a loss to the customers. The initiative is a part of Poco's commitment to ensure that its fans will be able to enjoy its product at the real, official price while building a healthy sales and distribution ecosystem in Indonesia.

Previously, Xiaomi Indonesia found some unusual transactions and may put many customers at disadvantages. The cancellation will be followed by additional sales held on 29 January 2021 at 10 a.m. on Lazada, while the sales on 2 February will be done according to the schedule.

The latest product by Xiaomi, Poco M3 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 11nm FinFet chipset, which has been optimized for energy efficiency. Moreover, M3 is weighed 198 grams, has a dual-stereo speaker with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IR blaster. For biometric security, M3 is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and also the power/lock button.

Poco M3 is divided into two variants:

1. 4/64GB is sold at Rp1.8 million

2. 6/128GB is sold at Rp2.2 million

The entry-level smartphone entered the Indonesian market on 26 January 2021.
