Women's Parallel Slalom Snowbroad World Championships Tsubaki Miki eliminated

At the Snowboard World Championships, 19-year-old Tsubaki Miki lost in the first round of the final tournament in the women's parallel slalom and failed to win both parallel giant slalom events.

The Snowboard World Championships were held in Georgia on January 21 for both men's and women's parallel slalom.

In parallel slalom, two athletes ski on two parallel courses simultaneously and compete for the fastest time.

Miki, who became the first Japanese skier to win a gold medal in parallel giant slalom on January 19, placed second in the qualifying round and advanced to the final tournament of 16.

In the first round of the final tournament, she faced 25-year-old Italian Lucia Dalmaso, who finished second in the parallel giant slalom at the World Cup in January this year.

The winner was Julie Tsok of Switzerland, who won her second gold medal in two events.

Other Japanese skiers failed to qualify for the finals, with Tomoka Takeuchi, who won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom in Sochi, coming 17th.

In the men's competition, Masaki Shiba, who competed in Pyongchang, was disqualified.

Tsubaki Miki commented: 'Unlike the previous parallel giant slalom, it made no difference which lane anyone chose. I was careful, but I made a small mistake in the middle of the course, and I think that was the reason why I couldn't go faster. I was happy to win the Parallel Giant Slalom, but this time I switched and concentrated."
