Winning Indonesia's 2019 presidential election, Scott Morrison congratulated Joko Widodo

After confirmed to won the 2019 Indonesian presidential election, President Joko Widodo began to receive many congratulations. One of them was by the Australian prime minister, Scott Morrison. Through his official twitter account, he congratulated Joko Widodo for his re-election as president of Indonesia. In addition, Morrison, who also won the Australian general election, also stressed that Indonesia is one of the strategic partners for the Kangaroo Country. He hopes that in the future the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia will be stronger.                                              

The General Election Commission (KPU) previously delivered the results of the presidential election on Tuesday, 21 May 2019. After completing the calculation of 813,350 polling stations. President Joko Widodo and vice president Ma’ruf Amin received a vote of 87,607,362 or 55.5%. While their competitors, Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno got 68,650,239 votes or 44.5%.

Apart from the Australian Prime Minister, Joko Widodo also received congratulations from Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Muhamad, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singapore President Halimah Yacob, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Chinese President Xi Jinping .

In his victory speech, Jokowi promised to be a leader and protector for all Indonesian people after being installed for the second period in October 2019.
