Wilfried Zaha to Crystal Palace: "I Am Leaving"

LONDON - For a great player, it is almost understandable if they want to prove themselves. This also applies to Wilfried Zaha, an Ivorian soccer player who plays as forward and winger for Crystal Palace currently. His marvelous and acrobatic performance with The Eagles could be the reason of why his head grew so big.

He demanded a transfer to bigger, UCL-verified club, in a negotiation with Steve Parish, the chairman of Crystal Palace. Thus, the second push/pull drama between Zaha and Crystal Palace begins.

Learning from experience, Zaha’s fall from grace begun in 2013, when Alex Ferguson – the former manager of Manchester United – decided to approach the Zaha and finally signed him to play with The Red Devils, before he retired. He was 20 at that time. Unable to compete for the starting 11 and spending most of his time playing on loan at Cardiff City & Crystal Palace, Zaha grew tired and annoyed with The Red Devils. How come? He claimed that he lacked chance to play, having only played twice for The Red Devils, and the Ivorian could not score in neither.

Zaha finally got his relief, having been sold by Louis van Gaal. But he was not loaned only to Cardiff City, but also to Crystal Palace, the former club that Zaha had been playing for since he was 12.

Therefore, it was normal, if he eventually decided to play for the Eagles permanently. With The Eagles (2010-2013, 2013 & 2014-2015 [on loan], 2015 - ), he played 289 times in total and packed 45 goals, while he was playing for Manchester United and Cardiff City, it seemed that his soul left him.

With the records above, would not it be normal to say that Zaha’s heart is with Crystal Palace? However, Zaha seems to be stubborn and he did not learn from experience, as he demanded to leave Crystal Palace this summer to play for a team that has secured a Champions League place (this could be a poke to Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, or Chelsea).

As he is approaching 27 this year, it is understandable that he wants to prove his worth, and that he is bigger than Crystal Palace. But which club he is going to? Still undecided, as Zaha could suddenly be graceful enough to stay with The Eagles.
