Why you shouldn't sleep with wet hair?

A long day at work makes some people choose to wash their hair, accompanied by a warm shower. After the shower, you might get sleepy because of the warm shower and get straight into bed.

Some people just don’t care whether they sleep with dry or wet hair. However, the health experts said that you should not sleep with wet hair because it might cause you some problems.

For some hairstylists, sleeping with wet hair causes hair to weaken making you prone to hair loss. Especially, if you braid it after the shower. Not only hair loss but also it will make it hard to be tidied up as it will too hard to be combed. Furthermore, you need to splash water to your hair again if you want to tidy it up.

For dermatologists, wet hair might get stuck upon your skin, causing skin irritation. When the water in your hair is evaporating, it also causes your skin and scalp to lose its moisture as well. This leads to dandruff and itchy sensation.

The most common effect after sleeping with wet hair is that you wake up with a headache. There are two reasons why the headache comes afterward. The first is because of the difference in temperature in your head and your body. The second is blood circulation. If you braid your hair straight after washing it and go to sleep immediately, it might give a tense sensation within your hair and affect the blood circulation which causes the headache.

It is advisory for you to dry your hair before sleeping. However, if you have no choice, replace the cover of your pillow to a softer material such as silk.
