While killing 3,000, over 44,000 recovers from COVID-19

Per Wednesday, the death toll of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) originating from Wuhan, Hubei Province, Central China, has reached 3,160. Due to the seemingly huge number, many people overlooked the fact that at least 48,226 people had recovered from the virus.

Speaking in Geneva last February, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that about 80 percent of the infected only showed mild symptoms which can be treated immediately. Only five percent showed “critical” symptoms that led to organ and respiratory failure.

Currently, the global COVID-19 infection cases reached over 92,800 people with the infection mainly hit China as the ground zero of the disease at 80,151 cases.

Still, people overlooked that despite the astronomical number, China reported that the infection cases are gradually decreasing. Per Tuesday, infected cases in China were cut short to 2,500 people. At least 2,944 died and 47,401 people recovered from the virus.

From those tested positive for the COVID-19, at least 2,600 people already recovered.

The second-hardest hit country is South Korea (S. Korea) at 5,186 cases. From the number, about 28 people died (with underlying causes) and 30 had recovered from the virus.

In the Middle East, Iran noted 2,336 confirmed cases. Still, people overlooked the record that 291 people recovered despite 77 deaths.

In the European continent, Italy is the hardest hit with 2,502 confirmed cases. From the number, at least 79 people died and 160 people recovered.
