West Java provides 54 rapid test centers for long weekend

The West Java government has prepared around 26,700 antibody rapid test tools for tourists. These tools will be spread to 54 points for random check-ups during the long holiday until 1 November. The news has been confirmed on Thursday by the head of West Java tourism and culture agency, Dedi Taufik.

Dedi explained that the COVID-19 test is essential as part of supervision to prevent COVID-19 infection spike after the long holiday has ended. Moreover, he stated that the rapid test also ensures a safe and sound tourism experience. Besides rapid test and swab test tools, Dedi stated that the medical officers have been provided with 14,400 viral transport mediums (VTMs) and 1,935 hazmat suits for their own safety while fulfilling their duty.

The protocol is done according to the instruction from the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, who wants to prevent any surge in COVID-19 case, reflecting from the prior Eid al-Fitr case. Previously in Eid al-Fitr, there was an exponential increase in the daily and weekly case by 69% - 93% in 10 - 14 days. Also, Dedi reminded that the tourists are required to maintain the health protocols against COVID-19.

Previously, Ridwan Kamil issued the Circular Letter No. 850/172/Hukham for regents and mayors throughout West Java on COVID-19 preventive measures during holidays and the joint holiday of 2020. West Java's COVID-19 task force secretary, Daud Achmad, stated that the six-point circular letter aims to prevent COVID-19 hotspots during holidays and the joint holiday. In the circular letter, Ridwan Kamil suggested his people to refrain going out of town and prefer staycation instead at home with their families. Moreover, they are also encouraged to run COVID-19 test, both rapid and swab with the PCR method, if forced to leave the town or using mass transportation.

Daud added that the circular letter also asked the regents and mayors to enforce health protocols while observing Mawlid or the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW, culture & art events, and other non-religious events.
