Ways to maintain a good work-life balance

Many people are struggling to strike a healthy work-life balance. Here are few ways to achieve and maintain a healthy work-life balance from the founder of copywriting consultancy Ella Smith, Ella Legg.

1. Set your time priorities
Having a to-do list with many tasks on it is very normal. However, you need to prioritize those tasks into four categories such as urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important and neither urgent nor important.

2. Have a set work hours
You should set work hours for yourself and try to always stick with it. When it’s time to start working, you’ll start working. And when it’s time to go home, then it’s time for you to go home.

3. Make your own workspace
Start to invest in equipment that will support your work. Working does require long hours so you need to make yourself as comfortable as it can be. You can use a comfortable chair, a support stand for your laptop and an ergonomic keyboard.

4. Be realistic
Do a little self-analysis after you finish your work. It will help you to you look back on what worked today, what didn’t, what went wrong and how the issue can be fixed. The self-analysis will also help you to never forget to tap into the valuables resources around you such as your peers.

5. Take a break
Remember to take a break throughout your busy day. Find yourself a place to rest for a while and enjoy your lunch. Moreover, you can also do some stretching to help you clear your mind and be more focused and productive.
