Vivo: COVID-19 is not bothering our productivity

One of the largest gadget manufacturers from China, Vivo, claimed that the production of its smartphones is not disrupted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, originating from Wuhan, Hubei Province, Central China.

Speaking on the “Vivo V19 Hands-On” event on Thursday, Jakarta, the Product Manager of Vivo Indonesia, Ricky Bunardi, said that Vivo has been assembling its product in Indonesia. About 30 percent of components of Vivo smartphones are supplied domestically. Therefore, the assembly and supply chain are not troubled by the virus.

That way, Vivo Indonesia manages to cater to the customers’ demand.

However, Ricky admitted that Vivo Indonesia is taking anticipation measures against the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia. For example, the employees are required to wear safety masks, wash their hands, and use hand sanitizer placed in various corners of the office in South Jakarta or its factory in Cikupa, Tangerang.

On the other hand, Ricky said that Vivo’s sales in 2020 will exceed 2019, evident by the growing sales number and market acceptance. Furthermore, the review of Vivo’s products showed good reactions. Therefore, Vivo’s confidence in Indonesia grows stronger each year.

Nonetheless, Vivo once met a hindrance to launching its Funtouch OS 10 update for Vivo’s gadget in China. Due to the COVID-19, the beta-testing was delayed. Hence, the release had to wait until the end of May with the date TBA.
