Visa becomes the newest investor for Indonesia's unicorn GOJEK

The provider of global payment Visa has joined in to support the current Series F funding round of GOJEK as the latest investor in Indonesia’s unicorn company. On Wednesday, GOJEK revealed the newest investment from the American company without saying the total amount of it.

According to Andre Soelistyo, the President of Gojek, the investment from Visa to Gojek was a support of the company’s business model. He added that Visa believed in Gojek’s services and payment ecosystem can improve the lives of Southeast Asian people.

The partnership between both companies will be in e- payments or cashless payment for consumers across the region. Visa will team up with GOPAY which is GOJEK’s digital payment platform and the leader of the e-wallet market in Indonesia.

Indonesia’s biggest ride-hailing company keep showing its ability to gain investment from worldwide giant companies. Within this month, Gojek has successfully secured investments for its ongoing Series F funding round from the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Corporation and Thai’s biggest bank Siam Commercial Bank (SCB).

However, GOJEK didn’t disclose how much the investment from the two companies.

The collaboration between GOJEK with the investors is to boost the company’s product and services throughout Southeast Asian.

The company is grateful to receive support from investors for Gojek’s current fundraising round. Investors believed in the company’s long-term vision of powering the next stage of technology-enabled development in the region, said Gojek President.
