Vietnam to try out 5G in 2020, Indonesia, where are you?

Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Johnny G. Plate, said that Indonesia is still in the trial stage to seek a precise wave for 5G frequency.

Speaking at the Communication and Information Technology Building on Friday evening, Johnny said that Indonesia is still giving the chance for Indonesian telecommunication operators to hold trials while Indonesian government is still arranging the special frequency for 5G.

Moreover, if there is no problem in the future, Johnny said that the 5G network can be activated before the capital transfer. Therefore, Johnny said that his ministry encourages the development of 5G ecosystem so that the infrastructure can be used by the industry players.

The statement came after Indonesia’s neighbor, Vietnam, planned to commercialize the successor of 4G this year. In 2020, Vietnam is ready to implement the network faster than 4G. Even, Vietnam already has its own 5G-powered smartphones, VSmart, produced by Vingroup JSC.

VSmart smartphone was released in December 2018.

VSmart factory will be built in the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi. The factory is estimated to produce 125 million smartphones in one year. Meanwhile, VSmart will be shipped to the United States (U.S) and Europe starting in April 2020. As a starter, VSmart will first touch Spain in the upcoming March.

Currently, Vingroup is trying to win in its own 95 million-populated country, beating the already acclaimed smartphone producers such as Samsung and Apple.
