UK PM Johnson self quarantines as the Queen addresses the nation

Through a video on Twitter, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (U.K), Boris Johnson, stated on Friday that he is still self-isolating because of the mild symptoms after contracting the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). After seven days of self-isolation, the PM said that his body temperature remains high.

Johnson was tested positive for COVID-19 on 27 March, the first leader of a developed country to have it.

According to an official statement by the Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth will address the nation on Sunday, the fifth time she has done so during her 68 years on the throne.

The U.K is approaching the end of its second week in lockdown, yet the death toll rose by almost 700 to 3,605. On Friday, the National Health Service (NHS) also stated that two nurses in their 30s, Aimee O’Rourke (39) and Areema Nasreen (36), passed away due to the disease.

In remembrance of the death of the two brave nurses, England’s Chief Nursing Officer and Executive/National Director at NHS, Ruth May, urged all British residents to stay home despite the tempting sun of the summer season.

Initially, Johnson does not want to lockdown the U.K completely. However, after being shown the projection that a quarter of a million British people could die, he shut down the world’s fifth-largest economy, closing schools, nonessential shops, and social venues.
