Ugandan athlete who tested positive arrives in Izumisano, Osaka after medical treatment
Osaka, Japan. A member of the Ugandan delegation from Africa, which came to Japan to hold a pre-Olympic training camp for the Tokyo Olympics in Izumisano City, arrived at a hotel in Izumisano City in the early morning of January 1, after meeting the criteria for lifting medical treatment set by the government.
The Ugandan delegation of nine athletes arrived at Narita Airport on the 19th of last month, but one of them was confirmed to be infected with the new corona and has been undergoing medical treatment at a facility designated by the government.
After that, he was allowed to enter Japan on the 30th because he met the government's criteria to be released from medical treatment, which is "10 days have passed since the date of collection of the specimen that was confirmed positive in an asymptomatic state.
The Ugandan team then traveled by chartered bus and arrived at the hotel in Izumisano City where they would be staying just before 2 a.m. on the 1st.
After eight members of the Ugandan delegation, excluding the one who tested positive at the airport, moved to Izumisano last month, one athlete in his twenties was confirmed to be positive, and seven others have been identified as people in close contact with the virus and are required to stay at the hotel until the 6th of this month.
For this reason, the team members who arrived on the first day are waiting in rooms on different floors to avoid contact with other athletes.
The city will continue to take measures such as conducting PCR tests in cooperation with the national government and Osaka Prefecture.
The city will consult with the public health center to decide when to start practice.
