Trump and Putin might Meet in Japan for Nuclear Agreement

Russia –A spokesman for Russian government Dmitry Peskov stated that, there is a possibility of a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in Japan this month, remembering the tensions between the two countries due to nuclear weapons agreements. He also said that when there is an opportunity, there is a chance.

Peskov opened this possibility shortly after Putin threatened to stop the START nuclear weapons agreement if the US continued to dismantle the contents of the international arms control agreement.

As reported by Reuters, the agreement agreed on April 8, 2010 ensured that the two countries limited the nuclear warheads and bombs to 1,550. Thus, intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-based ballistic missiles can be reduced to only 700. Meanwhile, submarine-based ballistic missiles and bombers can only reach 800.

However, this agreement is only valid for ten years, but can be extended for up to five years. Both countries must decide whether to extend or not in February, but the US has never given certainty, as this agreement is a form of poor negotiation from the Barack Obama government.

However, Russia questioned the US conversion regarding several submarines and bombers that could carry conventional weapons. According to them, no one can guarantee that the ship can carry nuclear weapons or not, which can lead to a huge issue.
