Traffic collision in China, at least 36 dead and 36 injured

On Saturday (28/9) morning, a traffic accident occurred in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, East China, as a bus collided with a truck. The bus was packed with 69 passengers on it.

When the bus was crossing lane on the Changchun - Shenzhen expressway, also known as the G25, it collided with a freight truck. The truck was bringing three people on it. Due to the collision, at least 36 people died and 36 people were injured and hospitalized. It took about eight hours to rescue the injured and to collect the body before the expressway was reopened for traffic.

Nine people of the injured were severe. Some 26 injured people suffered minor injuries, and one person had been dispatched from the hospital

The Public Security Bureau of Yixing was investigating the case. The preliminary investigation showed that the cause of the collision was flat tire at the left-front side of the bus.

The accident was not the first for the expressway. In April, a surveillance camera footage showed a careless sedan made a sudden stop after missing the exit on the Changchun - Shenzhen expressway. The sudden stop overwhelmed two trucks. One truck was toppled on one side after trying to avoid the sedan, and the other truck skidded on the middle of the expressway also after trying to avoid the crash. The car? It casually reversed and exit the expressway.

In China, traffic accidents are common and it is lethal. Either the Chinese don’t know the regulations or they just simply don’t care, as shown by the April G25 reckless incident. The authorities are also to blame as they lack will to enforce the traffic regulations.

In 2015, about 58,000 people due to traffic accidents occurring in China. The percentage showed that 90% of these figure comes from the disobedience to traffic regulations.
