Tom Hanks and wife tested positive for COVID-19

Academy Award actor, Tom Hanks, and his spouse, Rita Wilson, stated that they were tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), becoming the first Hollywood celebrities to announce COVID-19 infection. Both were staying in Australia for a documentary film about Elvis Presley produced by Australian producer/director, Baz Luhrmann.

Tom and Rita were allegedly infected while working for the project since one of the crews was reportedly infected by the COVID-19. On his Instagram, Hanks announced that his wife and he experienced flu-like symptoms, body aches, and slight fevers. Then, Tom and Rita got themselves tested. The result was positive.

Tom stated that they complied with the protocols, which means the couple agreed to be observed and isolated for the time being for the sake of the security and healthcare of the people. In the end, Tom said that he would keep their fans updated.

Son of the couple, Chet Hanks, also confirmed the news. Chet also contacted Tom and Rita via phone to check on their condition. Both the actor and actress/singer are in good condition.

In a separate statement, the studio behind the documentary film, Warner Bros Studio, also stated that one of the crews was infected by the COVID-19. Therefore, they cooperate with Australian Healthcare to identify and monitor all the people having contacted with the infected. Meanwhile, the infected crew has been treated.
