Tokyo To Be Added to GoTo Travel from October 1st
On the 11th, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Kazuyoshi Akaba announced a policy to add Tokyo, which is excluded from the travel demand stimulation measure "Go-To Travel" business, from October 1st. It will be officially decided based on the opinions of experts after consulting with the government's subcommittee on measures against new coronavirus infection on the afternoon of the 11th.
"The decision was made after discussing with Yoshihide Suga, Secretary of State, and Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economic Revitalization, at the official residence," he told reporters. Regarding the reason for the addition, Mr. Akabane said, "It has been decided that the warning level of the infection situation will be lowered by one level in Tokyo, the request to refrain from moving outside the city, and the request to shorten the business hours for restaurants, etc. will be lifted." he said. "It has become a desirable form because it will be promoted all over the country. I would like to emphasize the prevention of the spread of infection to the businesses in Tokyo."
The business started on July 22th but was excluded from the target because the number of infected people was outstanding in Tokyo.
