Tokyo Amusement Park Opens, Roller Coaster Becomes Favourite

The Yomiuriland amusement park in Tokyo, Japan, was reopened for the first time on Tuesday (16/6) after a delay in operations earlier this year due to the spread of the coronavirus, but visitors on roller coasters were forbidden from shouting.

The business center in Tokyo was gradually opened after Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike began to ease restrictions during the past month after the country ended Covid-19's emergency status. Yomiuriland only reopens rides outside its room while implementing new safety measures, such as checking body temperature for all visitors, providing hand sanitizers, and disinfecting rides and chairs after use. Social distance measures are also applied to the queue and the distance between seats on the vehicle. Yomiuriland's general manager, Toshio Sohara, said new safety precautions also included asking visitors on a roller coaster not to shout.

However, there is no penalty for those who have already done it. Yomiuriland was temporarily closed at the end of February and reopened for several days in March, but ceased operations again at the end of March. The park intends to open a vehicle in the room and the pool around mid-July.
