Tightening Security, Israel Limits the Palestinian Fishing Zone

Gaza Lane, Israel - According to the source, Israel has tightened fishing zones for Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Lane following an attack of balloons containing the latest dangerous explosives into its territory. These balloons filled with explosives were allegedly sent by Hamas groups from the Gaza Lane.

The Israeli military in charge of the Palestinian territories, COGAT, said fishermen from Gaza can only sail with a maximum of 16 kilometers to the sea from 24 kilometers previously. This rule was carried out just weeks after Israel lifted similar restrictions which were also for similar reasons.

However, according to AFP Israel had cut the sailing area for fishing ships operating from the Gaza Lane on April 30 before. Before this rule applied, Palestinian fishermen could find fish up to 24 kilometers in the Sea of Mediterranean. However, the policy was set on April, and with that rule, Gaza fishermen can only find fish in the Mediterranean Sea with a distance of no more than 9 kilometers.

It is reported that, this situation happened because Palestinians in the Gaza Lane often send balloons filled with fire bombs to the Palestinian-Israeli border to damage property and agricultural land in the Zionist country. If this keeps happening, the sea and the fish will be ruined and affect the agricultural activities in Israel.
