The U.S watches out amid mysterious pneumonia outbreak

Since Friday, The United States (U.S) Central for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has started an airtight check on all visitors from China at three airports in San Francisco, New York City, and Los Angeles. The extreme measure is done amid the concern of a mysterious pneumonia outbreak triggered by a new form of coronavirus in Wuhan, Central China.

The senior officer at CDC, Martin Cetron, explained that the three airports were chosen because they are the most crowded airport destinations for onward flights in the U.S. Cetron estimated that in a few upcoming weeks, the checking process will involve about 500 people.

The process requires all the visitors from China to fill a questionnaire and submit it to the temperature checking post. If one shows symptoms of coronavirus infection, he/she will be quarantined for further tests for at least one day.

The U.S decided to tighten the health check at its airports because currently, the mysterious disease had taken two lives. Moreover, the disease already reached Thailand and Japan spread through visitors from China.

The mysterious pneumonia outbreak was first detected in Wuhan, Central China, on Sunday two weeks ago. At that time, about 59 people at Huanan Fish Market in Wuhan was rushed to the hospital after showing pneumonia-like symptoms.

Except for the coronavirus, up until now, the world is still searching for the cause of mysterious pneumonia. Currently, about 41 new cases of pneumonia in Wuhan were caused by the new strain of coronavirus.
