The U.S furious by Iran's projectiles to Iraq

The U.S Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, condemned the missile attack on the U.S military base in Iraq. Washington regretted the action by Iran when both countries were committed to alleviating the tension.

Iran and the U.S relations strained even further by the assassination of the Iranian major general, Qassem Soleimani in a U.S airstrike. The pro-Iran group vowed to avenge Qassem.

On Sunday, eight missiles rained over Al-Balad Air Base, housing F-16 raptors, in Baghdad, injuring two Iraqi soldiers and two air force officers. Iraq purchased the raptors to strengthen its air force. Following Iran’s attack, the U.S advisors, contractors, and maintenance specialists from Sallyport and Lockheed Martin had been evacuated to Taji and Erbil.

Reportedly, less than 15 U.S soldiers and one jet remain in Al-Balad.

Taking on to Twitter, Pompeo referred to the action as a repetitive violation against Iraq’s sovereignty. While there was no party taking responsibility for the attack, Washington accused the Iran-supported group in Iraq of being the mastermind.

In recent months, Al-Balad was bombarded by missiles and mortars. Fortunately, no U.S soldier fell victim to the attack. However, the attack killed one U.S contractor and injured many Iraqi soldiers.
