The U.K to allow Huawei involve in 5G development

On Sunday, the Prime Minister of United Kingdom (U.K), Boris Johnson, reportedly is considering allowing the largest tech company from China, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd., to help the U.K develop the 5G network.

Reported by The Sunday Times, the British Prime Minister is going to allow Huawei to access some parts of its network. Then the Cabinet Ministers and security officials are going to scrutiny the agreement to exclude Huawei from accessing contentious part of the network.

Also, Huawei is set to sign a deal that they may supply equipment to the UK for the development of the 5G network to “non-core” part only such as antennae for a faster internet connection.

Chipmaker originated from the U.K, Arm, is set to sign a deal with Huawei. The chipmaker company once severed ties with Huawei due to the trade war between the United States (U.S) and China.

However, the action might put the bilateral relations between the U.S and the U.K at tense. The President of the U.S, Donald Trump, has been calling upon the world to join him banning the growing Chinese tech giant.

Trump and his administration pointed out that a deal with Huawei means a risk to national security, accusing Huawei of providing a “back door” for the Chinese government to spy on. Huawei denied the allegation.

But, Trump’s voice fell short just as Germany has allowed Huawei to help the country in developing the 5G networks and the U.K also followed Germany’s stead.
