The preliminary figure of the industrial production index for October released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry on the 30th was 95.0, which was 3.8% higher than the previous month. The keynote maintains that "production is picking up."

It increased in 12 out of 15 industries. Some of them, such as the "automobile industry" for passenger cars and the "electricity/information and communication machinery industry" for notebook computers, have exceeded the January level before the spread of infection. However, overall it remains lower than before January, and a METI official said, "It will take time to return to pre-Corona levels."

The outlook by major companies is expected to increase by 2.7% in November, but decrease by 2.4% in December. The "V-shaped recovery" trend since June has gradually slowed. There is a movement to spread the infection again in Japan and overseas, and "it is necessary to keep an eye on the future," said a person in charge of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
