The promise of cooperation in various fields, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un are getting closer

Pyongyang, North Korea - According to Reuters, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived on Thursday (6/20/2019) morning local time in North Korea for a state visit. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also welcomed Xi Jinping's arrival.

Kim and Xi have discussed and agreed to strengthen strategic communication and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

According to the North Korean news agency, KCNA, on Friday (21/6), the two leaders said they understood the need to foster good relations between North Korea and China in the midst of complicated international issues as they both also believe that by building good relations, regional peace will be created as well.

Kim said President Xi's visit was an important opportunity to show the world that North Korea and China's friendship have never changed. Kim also stated that, Xi's visit might bring new economic support from China to North Korea which is experiencing difficulties due to international sanctions.

Xi also said that, Beijing and Pyongyang need to hold peace talks to resolve political issues related to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. However, since his second meeting yesterday, Xi praised Pyongyang's efforts to disarm its nuclear weapons.

It is reported that, Xi's visit to North Korea was held a week before he was scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan. Both countries are currently involved in a trading war.
