THE POSSIBILITY OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE TRANS-SUMATERA TOLL IS NOT ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE, WHY?

JAKARTA - The construction of the 70 kilometer Palembang-Tanjung Api-Api toll road which is one of eight Trans-Sumatra priority segments has the potential to be built after 2019 or beyond the initial target set by the government.

Meanwhile, the other seven priority segments are expected to be completed in whole or in part by 2019. The other seven priority segments are Medan — Binjai, Palembang — Indralaya, Pekanbaru — Dumai, Bakauheni — Tebanggi Besar, Terbanggi Besar — Pematang Panggang, Pematang Panggang — Kayu Agung, and Kisaran - Tebing Tinggi.

Majority from seventh segment that in stage construction and some segment settlement is estimated to be complete in this year. To when this, Palembang segment - Tanjung Api-Api andKisaran - Tebing Tinggi not yet start construction.

Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency, Herry Trisaputra Zuna, said that the construction of the Palembang-Tanjung Api-Api toll road is very dependent on the design of the Tanjung Api-Api Special Economic Zone (KEK) which until now is coordinated with relevant stakeholders.

BPJT, he said, had already carried out the initial design, but the continuation of its development was very dependent on the design form of Tanjung Api-Api SEZ which had not yet been received by BPJT and business entities.

The limited costs received by PT Hutama Karya also became one of the challenges so that the continuation of development was shifted to several sections that were considered more prepared.

"As a project we will continue to carry out. This is the priority, yes, only if it is not ready and the resources are limited, of course we will continue to other priorities, "Herry said when contacted by Bisnis on Tuesday (04/09/2018).

Based on Presidential Regulation No. 117/2015 concerning Amendments to Presidential Regulation No. 100/2014 concerning Acceleration of Toll Road Development in Sumatra, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) was assigned to construct 24 segments along 2,770 km in the Trans-Sumatra corridor.
