The Man Who Put Knives on Prince Hisahito's Desk is Under a Psychiatric Test

TOKYO – Just before the extended holiday which was called the Golden Week, two knives were found attached to Prince Hisahito’s desk. After the incident occurred, a man was immediately arrested, the school was closed, and the school held a parents’ meeting. Although an incident occurred just before the holiday, Prince Hisahito didn’t feel threaten or scared at all to come back to school when the holiday was over.

The 56-year-old suspect, Kaoru Hasegawa, was immediately arrested. However, he will get a psychiatric examination. The examination was granted by the court after the request of prosecutors. Hasegawa allegedly trespassing the grounds of Prince Hisahito’s school three days earlier.

Investigators revealed that Hasegawa has admitted to place the knives on the desk. Hasegawa also told the investigators he was planning to stab the 12-year-old Prince Hisahito to show his critics against the Japan’s imperial system.

Luckily, the young prince was not inside the classroom when Hasegawa did his action. The knives he attached were fruit knives, and he has painted the blades into pink. However, no message was written at the scene.

The security cameras were able to catch the appearance of Hasegawa, who walking past the main gate of the school and left an hour later. Police revealed that he was able to enter the school after claiming to be a plumber.

Prince Hisahito is the son of 53-year-old Crown Prince Fumihito who is the younger brother of the emperor. This makes Prince Hisahito becomes the second in line to the throne.
