The Idea of Renting Everything

These days, there are a lot of start-up companies that offer consumers to rent various things. Clothes, furniture, and office are the most common things that are available for rent. Across the globe, especially in United States, young people are now rather rent things than having them all.

High-end fashion costs a lot. Women and men would want to have high-end clothes for special occasions, but it would cost twice the paycheck. How many times can they wear it? Probably once or twice, unless they don’t mind if people gossip around about the lack of clothes they have. Due to this social problem, companies start offering services to rent high-end clothes, just by paying membership monthly. Don’t need to worry about the cleaning, the companies will do it.

Not only clothes, renting furniture has become a trend. People in United States tend to move around a lot, as they have to leave the house as soon as the contract ends. Not wanting to bring lots of furniture around with them, people prefer to rent it out. With renting furniture, there is no need to worry the furniture won’t match the color or theme of the house. The procedure is the same; customers will only need to pay monthly for the membership.

Offices are also being rent now. A lot of workers have turned into freelancers. This cause a lot of people work remotely and don’t have an office. Co-working space is the answer for freelancers. Co-working spaces offer working space which can be paid monthly, with various packages and price. Actually, co-working space doesn’t only work for freelancers—small companies need them as well. For a small company that have just started their own business, co-working space helps them a lot, because they don’t need to have their own office and can rent for a generally inexpensive price.

If parents tend to buy things as investments, the young generations don’t see things as investments anymore. Amiah Sheppard, 23, thinks that house is an investment, but she doesn’t think clothes and stuff are investments. That is why she prefers to rent things rather than buy it.

It looks like the idea of renting everything will soon spread worldwide, as it’s more profitable to renting than buying things nonstop.
