The Chinese government faces difficulty diagnosing the COVID-19: Wuhan

Despite the applause of the world leaders toward the “fast response” of the Chinese government in handling COVID-19, the people of Wuhan has a different thing to say. According to a testimony from a Wuhan resident, the Chinese government is facing difficulty in diagnosing the novel coronavirus-related pneumonia epidemic.

Speaking to the South Morning China Post, William Yang, said that the medical team dispatched by the Chinese government is slow in handling his 57-year-old mother. Yang’s mother showed symptoms such as fever, flu-like symptoms, and short of breath.

Nonetheless, the local hospital did not treat his mother as a COVID-19 patient. The test for the COVID-19 virus supposedly held on 1 February was canceled due to the lack of equipment. Finally, Yang rushed his mother to another hospital to test for the COVID-19.

At first, Yang’s mother was tested negative for the COVID-19. However, in the second test, she was tested positive. Even worse, Yang and his mother had to wait for days to get a room.

Yang’s concern grew even worse as his 80-year-old grandmother also showed the same symptoms as his mom’s. The ambulance requested since days ago had not come yet. Yang said that there are a lot of cases similar to his, and the Chinese government is turning a blind eye.

The testimony also showed another ugly side of the COVID-19 in China, where the test is only 30 percent – 50 percent accurate, an allegation that the number of cases should have been more than the official number.
