school reopening in Hubei province

The 2nd wave of COVID-19 in China

After a month without new cases of infection in China, the authorities announced a new case coronavirus located in Wuhan. Following one person who tested positive for Covid-19 in Wuhan on Sunday (10/5), authorities reaffirmed five new cases on Monday.

Local health officials stated that the new cases came from the same housing complex and attacked elderly people. Quoted from AFP, China also announced 11 new with no symptoms in Hubei Province.

The emergence of these new cases was then linked to a new wave that had previously been warned by health experts following the easing of lockdown in several places.

The lockdown in China has waned in recent weeks because the spread of COVID-19 is considered to be controllable in the area so schools are reopened and inter-city trips are permitted. Disneyland in Shanghai has also resumed operations and the government has hinted that it will allow film screenings in theaters and activities in sports venues.

While in many other countries has also begun to study the policy of revocation of locking or restrictions on movement, including in Europe and the United States.

The virus pandemic made China face criticism from all over the world. They accused of underestimating the virus and hiding information when it first appeared in Wuhan, but the allegations were denied by the Chinese government which insists it always communicates to the World Health Organization (WHO) and other countries.
