Tesla Electric Car Ablaze in Belgium

ANTWERP - Tesla and fire, a better love story than Twilight. A Tesla Model S electric car was set ablaze for no reason at a supercharger station in Antwerp, Belgium, Saturday (1/6). This marks the second electric car fires in the past two months involving Tesla electric car.

According to the Electrek, having translated the news from Dutch, the owner of the car left the car to supercharge near Novotel, Luithagen-Haven. When the owner came back, he saw that the electric car with its supercharger were caught on fire. The cause of fire was possibly due to short circuit when charging.

When the fire fighters came to the rescue, they used a rather unique approach to extinguish the burning flame: they hauled the burning car and drown it into the pool. They then left the car debris for the night. This was said to prevent any ignition from happening.

Last April, in Pittsburgh, Tesla Model X was the one caught on fire for no exact reason. No later than Pittsburgh, Shanghai also reported the same fire from the same Tesla model. In 2018, Mary McCormack, an artist, recorded the fiery episode of her husband Tesla S caught fire at Santa Monica Boulevard.

Aftermath the Pittsburgh incident, Tesla immediately launched a software update for all Tesla S & X models, in order to prevent any mysterious fire to reappear. However, Musk, we think that it is not the problem, since the fire reappeared still.

Despite the fact that the number of gas-powered car fire is more than electric ones – thousands over four -, it is still worrying that the cause of fire remains unknown.

If short-circuits in the superchargers were the one to blame, Tesla needs to act quickly to fix the problem before the supercharger costs lives.
