Temporary Prohibition of Foreigners Entering The Territory of The Republic Indonesia

Along with the increasing number of cases of Corona Virus or Covid19 that occurred in several countries including Indonesia, pushed the Indonesian government to impose a ban on entry for foreigners.


This prohibition is contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 Year 2020 Regarding Provisional Prohibition of Foreigners Entering the Territory of the Republic of Indonesia which was enacted starting on April 2 yesterday.


However, there are exceptions to restrictions on certain people such as foreign holders of limited stay and permanent residence, foreigners holding diplomatic and official visas, and foreigners holding diplomatic and official residence permits. Then, medical and food aid and support personnel, sea, air and land transportation crews, as well as foreigners who will work on national strategic projects.


Although there are exceptions, they still have to fulfill several requirements, namely the existence of a health certificate in English issued by the health authorities of each country and a statement of willingness to enter quarantine for 14 (fourteen) days carried out by the government of the Republic of Indonesia.


Besides, Foreign Holders who have a Visit Permit that have expired and/or cannot be extended, are granted a Stay Permit in a forced condition automatically without applying to the immigration office.

However, under this rule when the COVID-19 pandemic has been declared terminated by the appropriate agencies, the renewal of the Permit of Permit is subject to the provisions of the legislation
