STATES PARTIES OF IMF-WORLD BANK GROUP 2018 GIVE DISASTER RELIEF

NUSA DUA - Several participating countries that attended the Annual Meeting of IMF-World Bank Group 2018 in Bali have expressed their willingness to provide assistance for natural disasters in Palu and Donggala and Lombok.

Chairman of the Special Unit of Bank Indonesia 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting Peter Jacobs said, many participating countries felt called upon to provide assistance.

"At least there are countries that say they will make such donations, so we will announce which country and how many," Peter said on the sidelines of the preparation of the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meeting at BNDCC, Nusa Dua, Sunday (7 / 10).

According to him, the participating countries have great attention to Indonesia. Generally, participants see Indonesia as a large country capable of handling this kind of event in the midst of a situation that is in fact a lot of earthquake problems in Lombok and also the earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala.

He stressed that the statement of willingness to help came from the initiative of the participating countries, not from the national committee.

On Monday (8/10), Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Panjaitan, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, Governor of Bank Indonesia and Minister of Finance is scheduled to go to Lombok.

"Just a few hours, then there will review the location of the disaster and will provide assistance," Peter said.

Earlier, Luhut and IMF Secretary and Fund Director and Director Jianlin Hai visited Palu on Friday (5/10).

Both provide assistance of 20 tons of rice and other food ingredients to victims of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Palu.

The Chief Executive of the 2018 IMF-WBG Annual Meeting Susiwijono Moegiarso explained that the government would not coordinate fundraising for victims of natural disasters in Lombok and Palu-Donggala.

"There is no [fund raising], there is an initiative to raise funds internally in IMF staff because tomorrow [Monday, 8/10], the IMF will also visit Lombok to visit the victims, as a form of supporting the recovery of Lombok and Donggala," he told Bisnis , Sunday (7/10).
