Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara emphasized that the government has yet to issue strict rules for startup companies. Because until now the indicator of startup success is still small, which is as much as 5%. In the event of 1000th Digital Startup National Movement "Ignite The Nation 1000 Digital Indonesian Start Up" Sunday (08/18/2019), Rudiantara was worried that excessive regulation would reduce the success indicator of start-up.

However, he said that there must still be rules for consumer protection. According to him this is important to guarantee the interests of the community.

Previously the government had said that in 2019 they targeted that there would be five unicorn startups in Indonesia. According to the Startup Ranking, Indonesia currently has 2,041 startups. When compared with world, United States has the most startups with 46,491 startups. So far, there have been 15 companies in the world that have 'upgraded' from unicorn to decacorn.

For this reason, the Ministry of Communication and Information made 1000 Digital Startups. The goal is to realize Indonesia's potential to become The Digital Energy of Asia in 2020 by producing 1000 startups which are solutions to various problems by utilizing digital technology.

Although it has not reached 1000 startups, Indonesia has already made an achievement. Quoting from Tech Crunch data, Director General of Informatics and Information Technology of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan said that Indonesia is currently in the 5th position in the world based on the number of startups.
