Sonic to Wait Until 2020

It is quite hard to find people who actually listen. SEGA is trying to revive one of its most iconic character, “Sonic the Hedgehog”. Yes, the blue hedgehog, created by Hirokazu Yasuhara that runs almost faster than Quicksilver and Flash, is returning. With some animated characters gain fame once they got 3D-ed, Sonic would like to follow after them too. Even, Sonic’s fans actually did not have to wait that long. In November, you could see Sonic beating Dr. Eggman once more.

However, the enthusiasm turned into mush when the world saw the first teaser trailer for the movie. Some of them were even disgusted by how they render Sonic with CGI. Personally, it did not look like Sonic a bit. According to the fans, the eyes are too small, the feet are too long, and they just did not feel the Sonic vibe within the character.

The trailer on YouTube got more hate than love: over 671.000 users disliked the video, and less than half of the dislikes that liked the trailer. Out of optimism, we think.

We just wished that the director would not have to see the comment section. Spoiler alert, they are roasting Sonic well done.

A fans, coincidentally an expert in design sector, decided to do a makeover to the design, and most people preferred his version than the movie’s! That is how bad the design was.

A sigh of relief came when Jim Carrey, a famous legendary comedian, came in to play the main villain Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik. However, when they saw one thing from Carrey, the backlash continued. CARREY DID NOT SHAVE HIS HEAD! For them, Dr. Eggman should be bald with enormous moustache. As expected from geeky audience. They demand perfection. When they did not get it, the backlash would hurt more than actual lashes.

Jeff Fowler, the director of the movie, handled these criticisms rather maturely than how ordinary director would react. Instead of telling them to “just accept it!”, he actually listened to the criticisms. And, due to the backlash, he delayed the release to February 2020. He said that he needed time to revise the design.

Fans all over the world were more than joyful to hear that their voices have actually reached the director. It was not easy to satisfy the geeky audience. Ask Rob Letterman’s “Detective Pikachu”. Even though they make Pikachu just right, opinions were divided. But, it is a sight for the sore eyes to see that Fowler listened and decided to do Sonic justice. Now, we should wait until Fowler drops another trailer, then let the judging begin.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” movie will be released on 14 February 2020. Save the date.
