SOE Minister to remodel boards of directors of Mandiri, BRI, BNI in February

Indonesia’s Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), Erick Thohir, stated his plan to remodel the board of directors of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero), PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) (Persero), and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) (Persero).

An aide to the SOEs Minister, Arya Sinulingga, said that the remodeling of the boards of directors of the three SOE banks will be done through the general meeting of shareholders (RUPS). The meetings will be held gradually. For BRI, the RUPS will be held on 18 February; for Mandiri, 19 February; and, BNI, 20 February.

Speaking on Wednesday, Arya said that the remodeling of the boards of directors is done to refresh these SOEs in order to face future challenges.

Previously, Erick had appointed Royke Tumilaar as the President Commissioner of Bank Mandiri, replacing Kartika “Tiko” Wirjoatmodjo who resigned in October 2019 as he was appointed as one of the SOEs’ Deputy Ministers instead. Royke has been around in Bank Mandiri for a long time since Bank Dagang Negara (BDN) was included as one of the four banks merged into Bank Mandiri.

The former Minister of Finance, Muhammad Chatib Basri, was appointed as the Vice President Commissioner of Bank Mandiri.
