Social Affairs Ministry: No problem with live chicken distribution
Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs did not question the matter of non-cash social assistance (BNPT) in form of food aid to the people of Cianjur. The food aid comes in the form of a live chicken.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Head of Publication and Broadcasting of the Ministry, Herman Koswara, stated that the most important thing is that the food aid has been distributed and received by the people. Herman asserted that as long as the chicken's quality is good. Moreover, the food aid for animal-based protein can be in the forms of eggs, beef, fish, and poultry, determined by the regional social service.
Meanwhile, Cianjur Social Service has not responded to the matter. However, previously, the people of Cianjur were unwilling to receive the live chicken food aid. They prefer minced meat to live chicken because the chicken will require more process, compared to the simple minced meat. Moreover, they were also upset that some of the chickens distributed were already dead. Long-dead chickens cannot be processed nor eaten.
Non-cash food assistance or BNPT is a form of assistance from the Social Affairs Ministry. Families registered will be given assistance worth Rp200,000 through a special card exchangeable with food assistance on E-Warong. BNPT may take four forms of commodity, such as rice as a source of carbohydrate, egg/beef/poultry/fish as a source of animal-based protein, legumes as a source of plant-based protein, and fruit as a source of vitamin.
