Severe Tropical Storm Lan injures 26 people in western Japan
Severe Tropical Storm Lan has injured at least 26 people in five prefectures across western Japan.
Police stations and fire departments in the affected regions said that as of noon on Tuesday, there were 11 injuries in Osaka, seven in Hyogo, three in Kyoto, three in Wakayama and two in Shiga.
In Wakayama City, a 60-year-old man is in critical condition after being trapped under parts of an apartment building wall that was blown off by the storm.
In Takasago City, Hyogo Prefecture, a 95-year-old woman fell and hit her head while taking out the garbage.
A 75-year-old woman in Osaka's Sakai City was injured and taken to a hospital after the eaves of her home collapsed due to the strong wind.
In Toyonaka City in the prefecture's north, a woman in her 80s fractured her thigh bone as a result of a fall induced by the gusts.
