Preparation to reopen mall in Jakarta

Several Tenant Still Not Allow to reopen their business in malls

Shopping centers or malls in DKI Jakarta will open again on Monday (6/15) tomorrow with the Corona virus prevention protocol (COVID-19). Every operating mall must implement strict health protocols starting from the entry queue, keeping the distance at the escalator, until the obligation for visitors to wear masks.

The Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta DPD Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association, Ellen Hidayat, said that there were several tenant categories that would still be closed such as theaters, fitness centers, children's toys, karaoke bars, to body and facial treatments.

"Those who cannot open are cinema, fitness, children's toys, massage, karaoke, body and facial treatments," Ellen told AFP on Sunday (6/14/2020).

While the salon has been allowed to open on condition that it only serves haircutting.

"Salons may be limited to cutting hair," he said.

Mall operating hours during the Large-scale Social Limitation (PSBB) phase I transition are also still limited. Ie, only 11:00 WIB until 20:00 WIB. "Opening hours are also limited from 11 noon to 8 pm only, if normally it used to be from 10 am to 10 pm," he explained.

Mall visitor capacity is also limited to only 50% of normal mall capacity. That way, employees who are employed will also be reduced by 50%. "Logically, if the visitors decrease, surely the income will decrease because the income of the tenants is from visitor traffic. Likewise, the number of employees will also be reduced by around 50% in the initial stages of opening the shopping center," said Ellen.
