Samsung unveils the future concept of Galaxy Fold 2

Reaping compliments with the foldable smartphone, Galaxy Fold, Samsung is aiming to make the sequel for Galaxy Fold, dubbed as Galaxy Fold 2.

Considered as the pioneer of the trend, Samsung went even further ahead with the new design for the Galaxy Fold 2. On Tuesday, at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2019 in the United States (U.S), Sally Hyesoon Jeong, head of Framework R&D Group at Samsung’s mobile communications, played a video titled “A New Form Factor for Foldable Smartphones” (https://bit.ly/2Wphwk5).

In the video, Samsung shows the usual form factor of the current Galaxy Fold. Much to the audience's surprise, In the next segment, Samsung shows the future foldable phone that will be able to be folded horizontally in half, like a clamshell-style phone. Not only is it portable but also it is nostalgic as it reminds us of the old flip phone. This hailed a round of applause from the audience.

Sally said that the new form factor will also change the way of using a foldable smartphone. About the release of this new foldable smartphone, Samsung did not reveal any specific date.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is sold at nearly US$2,000. With the trend of a foldable smartphone and 5G-powered smartphones, Samsung is trying to gain another yard against its competitors from China and the U.S, Huawei and Apple.
