Samsung on Samsung Fold: User better be careful

It is not a secret that Samsung’s latest foldable phone, Galaxy Fold, started weakly. Since its test-drive with some reviewers and tech experts in April, the foldable phone showed signs of imperfection.

The biggest issue was the screen plastic. Some people who tried it on for the first time accidentally removed “what-seems-to-be” a screen protector and it disrupts the folding screen. Aware of the matter, Samsung decided to pull the Fold and delay the launching date to fix the screen issue.

Redesigned Galaxy Fold was finally released on 18 September. However, it does not mean that you can use it to your heart content. Anticipating any unwanted care, on Friday (20/9), Samsung uploaded a video on its YouTube account on how you should manage your Fold titled “Caring for Your Fold”. And believe it, it is like taking care of delicate-yet-fragile fine porcelain.

At the beginning of the video, Samsung first explained that the Fold users don’t need to use excessive force when touching the delicate, polymer screen, adding that the screen is already protected and no additional protection is needed. Learning its mistake in April, the film for the foldable screen is fitted to the screen so that it would be impossible to be removed.

The warning for the excessive touch force was deemed necessary. When being tested by a reviewer, the Fold’s screen is easily scratched.

Next, the spine of the Fold is known to be designed after watch mechanics. Samsung advises the users to keep the Fold out of splash and dust. So, always prepare a glove, mini duster, and a mini cloth to keep it clean. This could be a hint that such obstacles could result in the jamming of the mechanism.

The Fold is also equipped with magnets to keep it clammed up safely. However, because of its magnetism, Samsung warns the Fold users to keep out things that could be pulled by the force.

At the end of the video, Samsung closes it by offering the users with “Galaxy Fold Premier Service” for “complete experience”. We got you, Samsung! “Please, don’t break the phone again” is the message here. If you have butterfingers, buying this US$2,000 phone will be unwise.
