Ryunosuke Kamiki, NHK morning drama "Ranman" (15.7%) Takeo speaks his mind to Mantaro
This 108th morning drama is an original story based on the life of Tomitaro Makino, a botanist from Kochi. Mantaro, a physically weak boy who was often bullied, became fascinated by plants and showed his hidden talent. He acquires a strong body by walking around in the fields and mountains. Undeterred by the fact that he dropped out of elementary school, he taught himself botany and entered the botany department of Tokyo Imperial University. The heroine is played by Minami Hamabe as Mantaro's supportive wife, Keiko Kotobuki. Aimyon sings the theme song, titled "Ai no Hana" (Flower of Love). Aoi Miyazaki will narrate the story. Each week's subtitle is the name of a flower depicted in the story.
The synopsis is that Mantaro (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is an
apprentice at Ohata's (Eiji Okuda) printing factory. When he returns home
covered in sand after finishing his work, Takeo (Shizon Jun) becomes angry. He
says he feels ashamed and frustrated that the head of Mineya is being used as
an apprentice and that he is not able to protect Mantaro even though he is
attached to him. Meanwhile, at Shiraubedo, Jueko (Mina Hamabe) entrusts
Matsumatsu (Riho Makise) with a book of Hakkenden, asking her to give it to
Mantaro if he comes. Takeo then tells Mantaro, "I think I will go back to
Sagawa," after hearing Mantaro's story.
