Ruangguru, a startup company that focused on education from Indonesia, is said to become a unicorn in one or two years. They have quite several plans for the next years, which will help them to become a unicorn. Some of the plans are releasing new features, massive promotion, getting investors, developing human resources, as well as expanding their wings to other countries.Ruangguru founder and CEO Belva Devara stated they currently have 15 million students and 300.000 teachers, although they’ve only been in the business for 5 years. In the app, Ruangguru is rated 4,7 out of 5 stars—the highest rating for an education app. Devara also revealed that they are having high quality teachers, which probably why students are interested to sign up.
There are many great things about Ruangguru, so they become the huge in such a short time. Because Ruangguru is an online lesson app, they need to make videos that have a teacher explaining materials to the camera. One great thing about Ruangguru is that; they make a fun video by adding animation and games. With those additions, students don’t get bored listening to the teacher, unlike when they are studying in class. The schedule is also flexible, as students can re-watch the video anytime they want, so they won’t need to wait until the next meeting if they don’t understand the materials well.
Ruangguru’s monthly fee is relatively cheap as well, compared to the conventional after class lesson institutes. They revealed that they have students who were a labor worker and a babysitter, but able to get accepted to universities—all thanks to Ruangguru. Overall, Ruangguru is a great and useful app, so students sign up there to study. No wonder they have thousands of students and it makes Ruangguru become a candidate to become a unicorn.
