Resignation Rate of Shopping Bags Over 70% at 3 Major Convenience Stores Significant Increase Compared to Before Charging

Family Mart, one of the major convenience stores, believes that, if it can maintain a decline rate of more than 70% in the future, it will lead to a reduction of approximately 9,000 tons of plastic waste per year. Because plastic bag is take more longer to destroyed than any packaging. Because of that we have to using our own shopping bag to reduce using plastic bag. “All retailers are obliged to pay for plastic shopping bags, which will be one month on August 1”. At three major convenience stores, such as Seven-Eleven, the percentage of customers who declined plastic shopping bags jumped from 30% before payment to 70%.
