Rep. Ilhan Omar Slaps Tucker Carlson's Prejudice
Tucker Carlson is an American conservative political commentator who supports U.S. President Donald Trump. Carlson is known for his controversial statements and he just made it again. On Tuesday night, Carlson stated the prejudice against Rep. Ilhan Omar that accused Omar to be the hater of her own country. Carlson said that Omar already made a bad image of U.S. as a country full of racism and bigotry. He gave the accusation in a segment during Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News. The insult went further as personal attack to Omar by saying she has ungrateful attitude towards what U.S. has done to her family. He linked the insult to the fact that Omar’s family came from Somalia to U.S. as immigrants. Not only that, Carlson also made an anti-immigration comment.The statements from Carlson are downright a form of racism, as Omar responded on Twitter recently. Omar said that Carlson just doesn’t like her presence in Congress. She also said that no lies will stamp out her love for U.S., neither her resolve to make the country looks more perfect. Rep. Ilhan Omar was a child under the refugee resettlement program and made history by getting to her position as congresswoman. Omar is the first Somali American and one of the first Muslim women sworn into Congress. There are already many oppositions to her since then, including the U.S. President and Tucker Carlson.
The recent profile of Rep. Ilhan Omar in Washington Post described her view on U.S., as a country that failed to apply its founding ideals. She stated that U.S. has let down the immigrants, refugees, and minorities like her. Omar’s view is a common critique from American progressive, which is U.S. has let down many of its citizens. Apparently, Tucker Carlson went too far in criticizing Omar's view, by attacking her personal background because she achieved a noble position.
