Rented for IDR 17.6 billion per week, the 1MDB Scandal Cruise Ship becomes a Spotlight

Le Vieux on French Riviera, France - According to The South China Morning Post, the Tranquility cruise ship that has became a big news because it was a result of the corruption in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) institution is now rented at a price of USD 1.25 million or equivalent to IDR 17.6 billion per week excluding fuel costs as it is now leaning in Le Vieux Port on French Riviera, France.

It is reported that the cruise ship is equipped several luxurious facilities, such as a deck that juts into the sea, a gym, a massage room, a sauna, an 18.5 meters pool, and a transparent floored jacuzzi that can spoil its passengers. As a compliment, a large piano is also available in the main hall of the ship decorated with gold and marble floors making the mood on the ship is even better.

However, in February, the USD 250 million ship was confiscated in Bali as the request of the United States Justice Ministry that was investigating a 1MDB corruption case towards this luxurious ship.

Apparently, Genting Malaysia has accepted and bought the cruise ship and managed to sell the ship for USD 126 million in April 2019 and now got the ownership of this ship.
