Rain pours in Kyushu.

Rain Continues to Lash Kyushu

TOKYO – After the rescue of 300 people in Yakushima Island mountain over the weekend, the rain still continues to pour. The torrential rain has swamped southern Kyushu on Monday.

Warning has been made by The Japan Meteorological Agency that the rain may causes landslides and floods. Moreover, people need to be aware of the possible tornados and lightning strikes across Japan through Tuesday. The rain in Miyazaki Prefecture has exceeded 400 millimeters from Friday to Monday.

Back in Sunday, 300++ people were rescued from Yakushima Island which located next to Kagoshima Prefecture.
 The rescuers were firefighters and Ground Self-Defense Force members could only started the rescuing on Sunday, due to the weather and ground condition. Luckily, none of those people are seriously injured.

Kagoshima Governor, Satoshi Mitazono, visited the landslide and met Yakushima Mayor, Koji Araki. The two were talking about the steps that they can do in order to recover the place. The hope people would visit Yakushima anytime soon.

Yakushima Mayor stated that they will work swiftly and hardly to handle the situation so the area will be recovered faster. It is expected by the weather agency that some areas to get rain more through Tuesday with more than 50 mm of rain per hour. 


Until Tuesday, 6 a.m, the rainfall is 200 mm and pouring in Kinki and Shikoku regions.
