Republic of Indonesia abbreviated RI or Indonesia is a
country in Southeast Asia, located between Asia and Australia and between the
Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean. Because of its location between two continents,
and two oceans, also known as Nusantara (Islands Islands). Consisting of 17,508
islands, Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world.
With a population of 222 million in 2006, Indonesia is the
world's most populous country and the most populous Muslim country in the
world, albeit globally an Islamic country. The form of Indonesian government is
a republic, with the House of Representatives and the country elected directly.
The state capital is Jakarta. Indonesia is bordered by Malaysia on the island
of Borneo, with Papua New Guinea on the island of Papua and with Timor Leste on
Timor Island. Other countries are Singapore, Philippines, Australia, and the
union of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India.
History of Indonesia by many other countries. The Indonesian
archipelago became an important trading area since the 7th century, when the
Sriwijaya Kingdom established a religious and trade relationship with China and
India. The Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms had grown early in this century, the
closest artists who brought Islam, and the various European powers who fought
each other to monopolize the Maluku spice trade during the era of ocean
exploration. After about 350 years of Dutch colonial rule, Indonesia appointed
its independence at the end of World War II. Furthermore, Indonesia is
challenged by natural disasters, corruption, separatism, democratization
processes and rapid economic growth.

Indonesia's diversity is one of the typical and interesting
things of Indonesia. Single Bhineka becomes a symbol of Indonesia's customary
wealth, culture, tribes and other differences, which, although different, can
still coexist and harmonize with the name of the Unitary State of the Republic
of Indonesia. Ethnic groups in Indonesia are rich in many different cultures,
customs and peculiarities. If traced, there are hundreds, or maybe only about a
thousand tribes that have lived and developed in Indonesia.
There are more than 300 ethnic groups or ethnic groups in
Indonesia. [1] or exactly 1,340 tribes according to the 2010 BPS census.
The Javanese are the largest ethnic group in Indonesia,
accounting for 41% of the total population. The Javanese mostly gathered on the
island of Java, but millions of people have migrated and spread to islands in
the archipelago [3] and even migrated abroad such as Malaysia and Suriname. The
Sundanese, Batak, and Madurese are the next largest group in the country.
