Preventing mysterious pneumonia outbreak, Singapore equips Changi with thermal scanner

Airports in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan have set up thermal scanners amid the awareness of mysterious pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan, China. Quoting The Straits Times on Tuesday, any passenger from Wuhan will be directed by Singapore’s Ministry of Health. The information is broadcast on the digital panels in arrival halls, check-in counters, and departure halls.

If they show symptoms such as fever and shortness of breath in two weeks, they are advised to seek medical help immediately.

For those traveling to Wuhan, they are advised to avoid physical contact with animals, including poultry and avian. Also, they are advised to consume well-done meat and wash their hands regularly.

Bloomberg reported in Hongkong, the authority also installed thermal scanner in inspection posts after two people were rushed to the hospital allegedly due to the mysterious pneumonia virus. Taiwan also does the same.

Health Commission of Wuhan announced there were 59 patients of the mysterious pneumonia outbreak, seven of which required serious treatment. On the other hand, they were all quarantined with fever as the main symptom. Some patients showed shortness of breath. The infection spread on 12 – 29 December 2019.

The first case befell people at a fish market, leading to the temporary closure for disinfectant spraying. From the research, the infection is not contagious inter-human.
